My First Book of Southern African Ocean Life introduces 58 fascinating ocean creatures.  The animals range in size from the earth’s largest mammal, the blue whale, to the tiniest, plankton.

Every page is dedicated to a single animal or mammal.  The colorful illustrations encourage you to read the text in one of the four different languages; English, Afrikaans, Zulu and Xhosa.

In the introduction pages, you find snippets of information relating to the following subjects:

• the ocean food chain
• where oceans fit in our lives
• an explanation of how to use the book

Every sea creature in the My First Book of Southern African Ocean Life, lists the following information:

• brief description of the sea creature
• an indication of how deep in the ocean they live and alongside which type of coast line
• an indication of whether the sea creature can harm humans
• an outline of the southern African coastline that indicates where these animals will be found.
• what it eats
• one of 5 icons, (a matchstick, finger, hand, forearm or man) indicating the size of the sea creature
