The Low Elem, or Lower Elementary program follows a three-year cycle, where 1st to 3rd grade students learn together in the classroom. Their education is tailored to each student’s needs through collaboration between parents, teachers, and students.
In this program, Dr. Montessori’s idea of “materialised abstraction” is applied, meaning that students start with concrete activities, to understand concepts, and then progress to more abstract ones. This shows how they grow intellectually.
The curriculum takes a spiral approach, revisiting materials and activities each year, with greater depth. Teachers prioritise teaching lessons within a broader context, starting with the big picture and then delving into the details.
