My first book of southern African insects discusses 58 of the most attractive or intriguing species likely to be found in the southern part of the African continent.  There are several different groups of insects ranging from dragonflies, to stick insects, butterflies and bees.  The insects discussed in this book fall under one or other of these categories.

Each insect in the My First Book of Southern African Insects, has the following information:

• a brief description
• an indication of when they are active
• what they eat+
• their size is compared to a matchstick
• warning signs whether it stings, bites or is poisonous
