Description
The study of grammar helps the Child/ren to be aware of words, read with full comprehension and to write well. Once all the different parts of speech are understood, the children study the Singular and Plural Exercises. This activity builds in complexity over 9 different control cards illustrating the various rules of grammar. Starting with the simple addition of the letters ‘es’ to a word, to indicate to the reader that they are talking about more than one, to changing the ending or middle letters to indicate plural to words with no change at all.
Examples of the different Words used on the various Control Cards:
| CONTROL CARD | SINGULAR | PLURAL | WORDS ON THIS CARD |
| 1) Add ‘es’ to words ending in ‘s’ | walrus | walruses | 20 |

| 3) Add ‘es’ to words ending in ‘o’ | mosquito | mosquitoes | 20 |
