Description
The Introduction to the Decimal Symbol is the first stage before the Child moves to the introduction to the decimal quantity.
The activity consists of 4 Birch ply number tiles, with the printed numerals 1, 10, 100 and 1000. The colours of the numbers reflect the traditional Montessori colouring –
- green for units
- blue for tens
- red for hundreds
- green for thousands
The number tiles are stored in an open Beech wood tray, which can be used as part of the presentation.

- number tile – 7cm x 5.5cm x 0.25cm / (2¾” x 2″ x ¼”)
