Description
The Montessori methodology does not see the Child – or the adult – as a passive being, enduring being taught material, that must be practiced, until it sticks. She views the brain as much more than just a storeroom, to accumulate knowledge for future use. Montessori teaches children to learn through their hands, directly approaching the work, and seeking experiences through their senses. Through experimentation, children try to figure out how it works. The author, Dr. Wilhelm Weinhäupl, who grew up seeing mathematics as a “dusty parade ground”, changed his perspective, when he was introduced to the Montessori pedagogy, after leaving school. Together with Maria Neuhauser, the authors produced “Montessori Explained Simply”, as a reference book.

Very comprehensive book for maths activities. I would recommend even for those experienced and trained montessorians. The visuals and steps are very well laid out.
