It is important to note that the Afrikaans Pink Reading Series, is for children studying Afrikaans, either as a first or second language.

This comprehensive Afrikaans reading series is based upon the Montessori Pink Reading series, with some modifications.  The aim of the material is to provide the Child with an in-depth understanding of word building and reading.  This language material activity explores sounds, letters, and word building.  Using the large movable alphabet, the Child learns to build words, phonetically sounding out the three letter words.

The Afrikaans pink reading material includes the objects, together with the Pink Box 3 word suggestions.  Picture and word cards, and word lists; articles, frequently used words and mystery words; as well as phrases and sentences.  Finally, the Child’s first book, the Pink Book, all form part of the contents.

Contents of the Afrikaans Pink Reading Series

• pienk boks 3:
  • 11 objects with matching word cards.  Objects supplied, may differ from those represented in our product photograph; due to availability; however, there will always be 11 objects.
  • 25 additional word cards, the Child or teacher will find objects around the house or at school to match these words
  • a total of 36 word cards
  • use this item with the large movable alphabet letters and mat
• 3 x pienk bokse (2-1 / 2-2/ 2-3) –  each box holds 7 image cards, for use with the large movable alphabet letters and mat.
• 3 boxes:
  • artikel – 4 cards
  • hoë frekwensie – 17 cards
  • raaiselboks – 10 cards
• 3 x pienk bokse (4-1 / 4-2 / 4-3) – each box holds 7 word cards and 7 image cards (42 cards in total) to match each other
• pink picture-word sheets and cards:  the objective requires the Child to match the words to the pictures on the A4 sheet
  • 5 x A4 control sheets with 8 images per sheet.  Each sheet is in a plastic envelope for display.  The cards are stored in a pocket on the back of the plastic envelope
• Phrases and Sentences:  1 x box containing the following:-
  • 11 word lists
  • 6 phrases, each with a control card and a separate image and phrase
  • 6 sentences, each with a control card and a separate image and phrase
  • a pink reading book; the first book for the Child to read
    • 12 double pages; a picture on one page, with a sentence describing the action in the picture.

Note:  To gain the full benefit of this pink reading series, we suggest that you use these additional items –

• large movable alphabet
• mat for the large movable alphabet.
