Description
The Big Five embodies adventure in the African bush-veld, and photographic safari in the dry, dusty plains. These activities are generally out of reach for most people, but we can bring the excitement, and interest to the children through the Africa Big 5 Little 5 – 3-Part Cards activity. This is a really fun activity for the early learner in pre-school.
Traditionally, 3-part cards are used to increase the Child’s vocabulary with the correct name for objects. However, this activity also introduces interesting animals who are related, purely through their names. The concept of comparative nouns is presented through the size of the animals.
Examples of the Word Cards:
Big 5 | Little 5 | Similarity |
elephant | elephant shrew | They both have long trunks |
leopard | leopard tortoise | They both have similar markings |

I never knew about the little 5 until I saw this product. It opens a lot of discussion in the classroom.
