Description
The Life Cycle of a Butterfly Objects is a series of 4 figurines describing the life cycles of a Monarch butterfly. Butterflies undergo a complete metamorphosis, which is a series of major and sudden changes in the animal’s body form as it moves through its life cycle.
Each stage looks completely different and serves a different purpose in the life of the insect. Tiny striped caterpillars hatch from nearly invisible eggs. They begin feeding on their eggshells, which provides important nutrients, and then feed on the surrounding milkweed leaves. They store food and find a protected area to form a chrysalis (also known as the pupa stage). After a further two weeks of metamorphosis, the chrysalis bursts and a beautiful monarch butterfly emerges.
