Description
This vertebrate, and invertebrate sorting activity has recently been revamped. To aid the teacher, we have listed the names of each vertebrate; and invertebrate; on the reverse of the image card.
Prior to this activity, the teacher explains the concept of what it means to have a vertebrate (spine) or not (invertebrate). When the Child is ready, the teacher sorts each card under the correct heading, discussing them with the Child. On the reverse of each image card is a red or blue dot. This is a control for the Child to check that s/he has matched the image to the correct header card. When ready, the Child attempts the exercise themselves. The self-checking method, allows them to work independently from the teacher.
