Description

This 60 mm mortar and pestle has a bowl and pestle, made from porcelain.  The shape of this bowl, makes it very easy to grind certain foods.

The pestle knob is comfortable for small hands to hold, allowing the Child to practice their food preparation skills and gain independence.

Activities for the Mortar and Pestle:

• children collect egg shells at home, and bring them to school for crushing
  • when crushed egg shells are added to the soil, calcium is released from the shells and absorbed into the soil
  • let the Child colour the egg shells into different colours, and crush them when they are dry; they can pasted them onto drawings to make a textured picture.
• by grinding rose petals, bay leaves, seeds and spices, the most amazing aromas are released
  • add these crushed items to the smelling jars for the children to test each other’s sense of smell.
• grind different coloured chalks and mix them with paste to make interest pictures.

Dimensions of the Mortar and Pestle:

• Porcelain mortar – 6 cm ∅ (2.3″);  stands 3 cm (1″) tall with a small lip to hold the pestle.
• Pestle – 7 cm (2¾”) long;  slightly bulbous end that is roughened for grinding.
