Your South African Heritage

Your South African Heritage is important to you and every year we are given the opportunity to celebrate it with our family and friends.  We can choose our own method of celebration, but it often done with a meal of our choice among family and friends.  Childrens House has developed printed material unique to South Africa to provide your child/ren with the opportunity to learn about their heritage and to celebrate what it means to them.

The South African Heritage Integrated Activity Set, gives children an understanding of what Heritage means, incorporating activities across the various learning areas.  The cards are displayed on a black plastic display stand that is sold separately – Item XCDB7

Before the material is displayed and shown to the child/ren; it is important that the teacher encourages discussion among the child/ren in the group to reflect and discuss what Heritage means to them personally.   After the child/ren have worked through the activity, they are provided with the opportunity to present their learning to their peers.  Thereafter, the Teacher can encourage further discussion among the child/ren to show their new understanding about Heritage.

The set is aimed for children from 3 to 12 years of age.

  • 3 to 6 year old children use the classified cards to learn the names of the subject matter and to  match images and labels to the control cards.
  • 6 to 12 year old children select the subject from the header card and the teacher adjusts the command task cards to match the child/ren’s requirements, (the difficulty of the tasks rises with their age groups).

Take this opportunity to have a unique product that can aid your child/ren’s understanding of their culture and heritage.
