Description
Mention the word “Montessori”, and often a person’s first association with this word is the Pink Tower, as the quintessential activity for all Montessori classrooms for children under the age of 6. The main aim of this activity is to help children conceptualise size; in three different dimensions; visual, muscular and sensorial. The Pink Tower Cards are an additional 2-dimensional activity for the Child, to enhance their experience.
Features of The Pink Tower Cards
- direct objectives for the Child, are to:
- match the 3-D cubes to the respective 2-D card, through visual and muscular perception
- compare the 3-D cube, as each one will only match one cube card
- indirectly, the Child learns to;
- co-ordinate and control their gross and fine motor muscles
- develop a visual awareness of dimension
- improve their focus and concentration
- by matching the solid objects to the plane figures, children begin to move from the concrete to the abstract

Our children love these cards as an extension activity. Although the cards are a good quality, I laminated them for ‘just in case’.
