Description
Once the Child understands the function of a ‘noun’; the concept of singular and plural – box 1, can be taught in a very concrete manner. This activity demonstrates the rule of adding ‘s’ to form a plural, using objects and words. The objects supplied may differ from the ones represented in the product photo.
When do you introduce the Child to the Singular & Plural Box 1?
When the Montessori Child has begun to sound out words and read three-, four- and five-letter words, they want to do more. At this age, children are like sponges, avidly absorbing knowledge; so we introduce them to the concept of singular and plural words. The teacher will observe each Child’s individual development, and decide when they are ready to go to this next level.
Introduce the Child to this material, after they have worked through the pink, and blue reading series, or, if they are ready, even while they are busy with the blue series. Once again, the Child begins by matching a concrete object to a word in the singular tense. The 2 heading cards are laid out, and the Child matches a concrete object to a word in the singular tense, and then several concrete objects to a word in the plural tense. Note: Objects supplied, may differ from the ones represented in the product photo; due to availability of individual objects; but there will always be 10 sets of objects.
