Description
Traditionally, the horse has always represented the classification of mammals in Montessori classrooms. It is assumed that when the Montessori Method of teaching was developed, the horse was the most common form of mammal, (apart from humans), that most children knew about. This all changed in the 1920’s, after the end of World War 1. Until this time, horses represented transportation, pets, leisure and a work-force on farms. The Parts of a Horse Activity, teaches children all about how they move, smell, eat and look. Using this product, you can compare the similarities between different mammals.
Hippology is the science of studying horses; which are classified as the Phylum Chordata; according to the Montessori zoological curriculum. The material is colour-coded with a dark red border around each card. Before buying the parts of the horse, I asked the team questions about this product, and the staff were knowledgeable about the contents. This is helpful to know that the staff selling this equipment also makes it.
