My First Book of Southern African Creepy-Crawlies covers 58 spiders, snails, millipedes and other creatures  (excluding insects).  These scary animals are found around the home and garden, under rocks and hidden in secret places.  Each  page features vivid, full-color illustrations, informative text and visual clues conveying the creatures’ size, what they eat, and when they are active.  The colorful illustrations encourage you to read the text in one of the four different languages; English, Afrikaans, Zulu and Xhosa.

Every animal in the My First Book of Southern African Creepy-Crawlies, lists the following information:

• brief description of the invertebrate
• warnings if the creepy-crawly is dangerous to humans either through poison or by biting us
• icons indicate when they are more likely to be active
• indications of what they eat
• an indication of where they live
• one of 2 icons, (a matchstick or hand) indicates the size of the creepy-crawly
