Description

The Asia Continent is the world’s largest and most diverse continent.  It occupies the eastern four-fifths of the giant Eurasian landmass.  Covering approximately 30% of the world, home to approximately 60% of the global population.  It stretches from the Komsomolets Island, the northernmost island in the Russian Arctic;  down to the border of China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan.  Across to the Ural Mountains separating Russia and western Europe.

Explore the lives of the indigenous peoples of this continent through stories that inspire you.  Take a journey through your mind’s eye.  Imagine growing up knowing that as an Adivasi person, you are carrying the genes of the first Stone Age people of Asia, who settled in India and have a special affinity to the Earth.  Or growing up under the world’s largest religious building in Angkor Wat, Cambodia.  This ancient city dates back to the ancient Khmer Empire, where they filmed the Tomb Raider.

Children love to learn about how others live, what they do and eat.  Stories reveal ideas, beliefs and facts about others.  They prompt a thirst in you, to explore and experience for yourself.   The Asian Continent, image and fact cards offer a structure for the teacher.  S/he can weave stories behind the images and facts.  These provide a means for children to experience what others experience.  Developing an understanding as to why their friends worship as they do, or follow different traditions to themselves.  Or why they look and sound different to them.  For the first time, the Child encounters diversity with meaning and understanding.  This activity widens our children’s knowledge and awareness of others.  It allows them the opportunity to grow their understanding of the world:

Our children enjoy learning about the continents. The Asia cards are so professionally done. I wish I had known about them before I made them myself, because I would never be able to find those images and print them properly.
