Description
The Child’s Rolling Pin is one of the more unique appliances found in our Montessori environment. It is fun to use with play-dough, and for baking activities.
Objectives for the Child’s Rolling Pin
- the main objective is to master, and control the movement of the rolling pin
- indirectly, the Child-
- learns how to coordinate their gross motor movement
- gains a lot of self-esteem, being able to do it ‘for themself’
- has to control the amount of pressure they apply, to produce a level surface
Features of the Child’s Rolling Pin
- the wooden handles remain stationary as the cylinder glides through the dough
- cylinder made of plastic, covered in thin layer of silicone, for easy cleaning
- the small appliance, fits the small hands of early learner

- length of handles – 6.5 cm / ( 2½” )
- cylinder length – 10 cm / ( 4″ ) and circumference – 14 cm / (5.5″)
