About the School

Montessori Smile School is an expanding Montessori community in Brandon, Manitoba, currently offering Toddler and Casa environments and preparing to open its first Elementary programme.

The school is committed to authentic Montessori practice and is actively working toward AMI alignment and certification. This role represents a foundational hire, with the opportunity to help shape and establish the Elementary environment from its inception.

The Opportunity

Montessori Smile School is seeking an AMI-trained Elementary Guide (6–12) to lead the launch of a Lower Elementary (6–9) classroom.

This is a unique opportunity for a guide who is motivated by building something from the ground up, contributing to programme development, and working closely with leadership to establish a strong and cohesive Elementary offering.

The Lead Guide will be responsible for preparing and leading a classroom of approximately 20–30 students, ensuring a high standard of Montessori practice, and supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of each child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain an authentic Montessori Lower Elementary environment aligned with AMI principles
  • Plan and deliver presentations across the Elementary curriculum
  • Observe, assess, and support individual student development
  • Establish strong classroom culture and consistent expectations
  • Communicate effectively with families and contribute to the wider school community
  • Collaborate with leadership as the Elementary programme develops

Candidate Profile

  • AMI Elementary Diploma (6–12) required
  • Experience in a Lower Elementary Montessori environment preferred
  • Strong classroom leadership and organisational skills
  • Clear and confident communication with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Commitment to authentic Montessori practice and ongoing professional growth
  • Ability to work with flexibility in a developing school environment

Eligibility

Compensation & Start

  • A competitive salary, dependent on experience
