Pouring & Transferring

Grasping a handle and pouring water or grains helps children develop fine motor control. These simple activities isolate single skills children will later need, in combination, for more complex processes.  There are 2 versions of pouring, dry or wet.  Transferring is the use of tongs to lift small items i.e. beads from a bowl to a plate.  This latter activity improves the "pincer grip" required for handwriting skills.
