Environment:  Toddler (18mths to 3yrs)

Job Description:  The Montessori Toddler Assistant will support the lead teacher in implementing the Montessori method in a toddler classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Classroom Activities: Assist the lead teacher with daily activities and lessons in accordance with Montessori principles.
  – nappy changing and toilet routine support as part of a team.
• Prepare Learning Environment:  Set up and maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly classroom environment.
• Observe and Guide: Observe children and provide gentle guidance to support their independent learning and development.
• Encourage Independence: Foster a sense of independence in children by encouraging self-help skills such as dressing, feeding, and toileting.
• Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour management techniques and support children in developing social skills.
• Parent Communication: Communicate effectively and respectfully with parents.
• Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development and training related to Montessori education.
• Health and Safety:  Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by following health and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
• Montessori Certification: Montessori Assistant or relevant certification preferred but not required.
• Experience: Previous experience working with toddlers in a childcare or educational setting.
• Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, and a genuine love for working with young children.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry children, bend, squat, and sit on the floor as needed.

Work Environment:

• Indoor and outdoor classroom setting with activities.
• Interaction with children, parents, and school staff.
