Lower Elementary Montessori Guide (Ages 6–9)

About the School

A well-established Montessori school in the Northeast is seeking a Lower Elementary (6–9) Lead Montessori Teacher to join its community. This is a lead role in a small, well-supported classroom serving children in grades 1 to 3.

This position is available as soon as possible, with the goal of providing stability and continuity for the children for the remainder of the school year and beyond.

The Printed alphabet in Red consists of all of the letters of the alphabet; capital and lower case; and additional punctuation marks to be able to construct sentences.

The Role

The Lower Elementary Lead Teacher will guide a mixed-age classroom of children ages 6–9 within a prepared Montessori environment. The role involves fostering independence, academic curiosity, and social development while maintaining a calm, purposeful classroom culture.

The classroom is intentionally small, allowing for individualized instruction, strong relationships, and thoughtful Montessori practice. The school provides internal Montessori support, mentoring, and collaborative leadership.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

Elementary teaching experience preferred (Montessori experience strongly valued)

Criminal background check and health clearance required

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Ideal Candidate

  • Holds an AMI or AMS Lower Elementary credential (MACTE-accredited strongly preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) preferred
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of Montessori philosophy and multi-age learning environments
  • Has experience differentiating instruction to meet a range of developmental needs
  • Brings positive, effective classroom management and strong organizational skills
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with families and colleagues
  • Values collaboration and contributes positively to school culture
  • Is reflective, flexible, and committed to professional growth

Compensation & Benefits

The school offers a competitive salary (commensurate with experience, approximately in the low–mid $50,000 range) and a supportive benefits package, which may include:
