French & Elementary Support Teacher

Position Overview

Shrewsbury Montessori School (SMS) is seeking a warm, collaborative, and engaging French Teacher & Elementary Support Guide to join our Elementary program for the 2026–27 academic year.

This is a unique opportunity for an educator who enjoys working with children across multiple age levels and who values a child-centered, relationship-based approach to education. The role combines French language instruction with support within the Lower and Upper Elementary environments.

The ideal candidate will bring strong French language ability, a collaborative spirit, and an appreciation for Montessori philosophy and elementary-aged children.

Greene Towne Montessori School is an American Montessori Society (AMS) accredited school located in Center City, Philadelphia. With nearly 60 years of history, the school is recognized for its strong commitment to Montessori principles, teacher development, and community-centered education.

The school serves approximately 200 students from toddler through elementary levels and is dedicated to fostering independence, agency, and a lifelong love of learning in each child.

Position Responsibilities

French Instruction

  • Teach French language instruction to students from Primary through Upper Elementary
  • Develop engaging and age-appropriate lessons that foster enthusiasm for language learning
  • Incorporate music, movement, storytelling, conversation, and cultural experiences into instruction
  • Work collaboratively with classroom guides to support curriculum integration where appropriate

Elementary Classroom Support

  • Float between Lower and Upper Elementary classrooms to support the daily flow of the program
  • Provide classroom coverage during breaks, transitions, and recess periods
  • Support classroom consistency and continuity in alignment with Montessori practices
  • Build positive relationships with students across multiple age groups

Community & Collaboration

  • Participate as an active member of the school community
  • Collaborate closely with Elementary guides and administration
  • Support after-school programming where appropriate
  • Maintain professional communication with staff and families

Position Details

  • Full-time position (approximately 30–40 hours per week)
  • Academic year schedule
  • Start date: August 2026
  • Salary commensurate with experience
