A well-established Montessori school in the Northeast is seeking a Lower Elementary (6–9) Lead Montessori Teacher to join its community. This is a lead role in a small, well-supported classroom serving children in grades 1 to 3.
This position is available as soon as possible, with the goal of providing stability and continuity for the children for the remainder of the school year and beyond.
The Role
The Lower Elementary Lead Teacher’s role is to guide a mixed-age classroom of children ages 6–9 within a prepared Montessori environment. The role involves fostering independence, academic curiosity, and social development while maintaining a calm, purposeful classroom culture.
The classroom is intentionally small, allowing for individualized instruction, strong relationships, and thoughtful Montessori practice. The school provides internal Montessori support, mentoring, and collaborative leadership.
Criminal background check and health clearance required
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate holds an AMI or AMS Lower Elementary credential (MACTE-accredited strongly preferred)
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) preferred
Demonstrates a strong understanding of Montessori philosophy and multi-age learning environments
Has experience differentiating instruction to meet a range of developmental needs
Brings positive, effective classroom management and strong organizational skills
Communicates clearly and professionally with families and colleagues
Values collaboration and contributes positively to school culture
Is reflective, flexible, and committed to professional growth
